Open, By Approval and Invite Only Houses
You can set three levels of membership for your House - open to all, by approval, and invite-only.
Open to all Membership allows anyone on Clubhouse to join your House! There is no waitlist - when someone joins, they immediately become a member of the House. Your members will also be able to share the unique House link to invite their friends to join without sitting on a waitlist, and your member list will always be public.
Approved Membership requires everyone to join a waitlist and be approved before they become members. People will be able to join the waitlist when they find the House in search or from their friend’s activities, or they may be invited by House members. Members will also be able to approve their friends once they’ve joined the waitlist. House Founders who set their membership to approved and want to cultivate a more curated community can hide their member list.
Invite-only Membership requires everyone to be invited - there is no waitlist to join. This membership level also allows founders to hide their member list!!
Open Membership Settings
As far as setup goes, Open to all (Open) Membership is just a single setting, allowing anyone on the app to join, and members to share the House link with their friends freely. Make sure to fill out your House description - include some rules here - to help your new members orient themselves to your House!
Can I make my House Member list private?
Houses that have their memberships set to By approval or Invite-Only can hide their member lists from public view.
Only House members will be able to see the member list and any House activity, and the House won’t be visible on member profiles or be able to host public rooms.
The House will still appear in search results.
How to hide the House Member List
You can hide your member list from the House Settings menu.
To Hide your Member List:
1. Tap the three-dot menu at the top right of your House.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of settings and tap Who can join.
3. Set your membership to By approval or Invite-only.
4. Find the Hide member list at the bottom of the screen and toggle to enable it.
Will new people know that my House member list is hidden?
When a new member is invited into the House, they will see a note indicating that the member list is hidden.
The only indication that membership is hidden for people who are browsing or looking to join your House is that the member list will be hidden from them.
Can I choose to make my hidden member list public later?
Yes, and when you do, you’ll receive a prompt letting you know that your members will be alerted to the change.
House Membership Levels

Admins: House Admins have the same permissions as Founders, except they cannot delete the House or remove the Founder.
Leaders: House Leaders can start rooms, and schedule events, They cannot edit House settings, edit the club name, or manage members or membership permissions, except they are able to demote themselves to Members.
Members: Depending on Membership Permissions, House Members can invite people to join the House or create rooms.
