Live rooms are conversations happening right now, where groups of friends or members of communities are talking about a specific topic - or none at all. Rooms can be closed to just your friends, to friends of friends, or they may be open to everyone if they’re based on a user's interests or if they are created in a House that’s open to everyone.
Finding Live Rooms
You can find live rooms in a few ways. First, you may see them in your feed; you may be invited directly from someone in the room; you may get a notification that you were mentioned in a room chat, which will link you to the room, or you may see them in any of your Houses!
Joining Live Rooms
If a live room is active, you can join rooms directly from a notification, a pop-up message that you were invited, directly from your hallway, or in any of your Houses.
How can I message people while in a live room?
You can easily open a private chat while in a live room. Simply tap on the person’s profile pic, open a private chat with them.
You will have two options for how you can send messages:
- Text Mode: To the right of the blue microphone, you can send messages in text mode, letting you read and respond without leaving the live room or disrupting the audio.
- Voice Mode: Tap the microphone to speak. The live room will mute, but you won’t leave the room, allowing you to message without everyone hearing or needing to rejoin the room.
Want to Invite Your Friends to a Live Room?
You can notify friends to join live rooms you’re in and invite more people into the conversation two ways: First, in any open room, tap the share button at the bottom of the screen. That will give you the option to share via text, email or directly on Clubhouse; just tap “invite people” to “ping” your friends to join in. Secondly, you can @mention friends in live room chats to notify them to join the room.
