You can earn real monetary rewards from Clubhouse based on your contributions to and engagement with the platform, whether you're hosting engaging rooms, participating in thoughtful discussions, or building community connections.
How Rewards Work
There are three main steps:
Step 1: Unlock Earning Eligibility
You must meet all of the eligibility requirements and set up an earner account (in order to cash out) via Stripe.
- Create Stripe Connect account through Clubhouse app
- Provide personal information (name, DOB, address, tax info)
- Submit government ID if required
- Link valid bank account
Note: Personal information is handled by Stripe, and is not stored on Clubhouse servers. To troubleshoot your Stripe setup, visit here.
Key Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a minimum Karma score of 100
- Reside in a supported earning country (see below)
- Clubhouse account must be in good standing
What is Karma? Karma is your platform reputation score based on participation, engagement, and community standing. It's a key factor in determining your eligibility and earnings from Clubhouse.
Step 2: Contribute and Engage on the Platform
Clubhouse rewards you based on your contributions to and engagement with the platform. Multiple factors determine your potential earnings:
- Your Karma Score: A measure of your platform participation, engagement, and community standing. See here for more details.
- Your Community Contributions: The quality and frequency of your participation in rooms and conversations.
- Your Engagement Level: How actively you participate and connect with the community
- Premium Reacts You Receive: When other users send you premium reacts, this signals appreciation for your contributions
- Other Platform Signals: Clubhouse considers various other factors in determining rewards
Important: Premium Reacts are reaction stickers that users can send to speakers during rooms using “coins”, an in-app virtual currency they can purchase. Earnings are discretionary payments from Clubhouse to you, not transfers from other users. While premium reactions are one factor in determining your earnings, they are only one of multiple factors including your Karma score, your contributions to the platform, your engagement level, and premium reactions you receive, among other considerations.
Step 3: Unlock Payout Eligibility
Eligible contributors with enough karma can get paid real cash from Clubhouse for the Gold they have earned.
To receive payouts from Clubhouse, these criteria must be met:
- Have the minimum amount of cleared Gold (see earnings dashboard in-app)
- Maintain the minimum required Karma score (see earnings dashboard in-app)
- Have an established account that has been open for the required minimum period
- Have setup a Stripe account that has passed identity verification
- Have your payment account in a supported country (see below)
- Account must remain in good standing
- Acceptance of Clubhouse's Contributor Rewards Terms
Important: You can start earning Gold from Clubhouse before completing verification, but you cannot cash out until all requirements are met and your Gold has cleared its hold period.
Understanding the Currency System
Clubhouse uses a two-currency system to manage rewards:
Coins (Virtual Spending Currency)
- Purchased by users with real money through in-app purchases via the App Store or Google Play
- Are used to send Premium Reacts
- Non-redeemable, have no cash value, cannot be transferred between users
- Treated as final sale
Gold (Virtual Earning Currency)
- Earned from Clubhouse based on your platform contributions and engagement
- Cannot be spent in-app or transferred to other users
- Represents Clubhouse's discretionary reward to you for your contributions
- Is initially earned in a pending state, and is sSubject to hold periods, clearance, and potential freezes or reversals
- Will be paid out to real cash by Clubhouse on a monthly cycle once payout eligibility requirements are met
Settlement Status and Hold Periods
Gold earnings from Clubhouse don't become available for payout immediately. They go through a settlement process:
- Pending: All new Gold earnings start in Pending status (you will see this in your earnings dashboard on your profile page)
- Hold Period: Gold remains Pending for 14-30 days
- Cleared: After the hold period, Pending Gold becomes cleared and eligible for payout
- Other Statuses: Gold can also be Frozen, Reversed, Expired, if suspicious activity is detected, which is at Clubhouse’s sole discretion. Gold can also be Paid.
Why Hold Periods? Hold periods provide time to handle refunds, chargebacks, and fraud detection related to the underlying Coin purchases that triggered platform activity. This protects both the community and Clubhouse.
Gold Expiration
Gold may expire if: 365 days have passed since earned AND account has been inactive for 90+ days. Any activity in the app (including just opening it) will maintain your account as active and reset this clock.
Clubhouse's Discretionary Authority
Clubhouse reserves complete discretion to:
- Determine Gold awards based on multiple factors
- Modify rates, conversion rates, and eligibility requirements
- Suspend, reduce, or terminate Gold awards or payouts
- Freeze or reverse Gold for any reason
- Change program terms at any time
Tracking Your Earnings
The Earnings Dashboard (located on your profile page) shows:
- Current Gold balance by status (Pending, Cleared, Frozen, Paid)
- Potential cash value of cleared Gold
- Next payout date and estimated amount
- Eligibility status and requirements (karma, account age, balance)
- Payment setup status
- Transaction status notifications

Your App Store/Play Store country determines access to buying coins in app and using them to send premium reacts.
To earn gold and real cash payouts
Your app store / play store country AND your Stripe account (with verified ID) must both be in a supported country.
