While law enforcement authorities in any country can submit a request, the requirements for data disclosure will vary depending on the location of the user, the location of the requesting law enforcement authority and, in certain cases, the type of data requested. We will also consider complete and valid legal requests under country-specific requirements that are in line with our policies.
Most international governmental and law enforcement agencies must use the process established through mutual legal assistance treaties (MLAT) to seek user information from us. As a courtesy to international law enforcement, we will review and respond to properly submitted preservation requests while the MLAT process is undertaken.
We will evaluate foreign country requests on a case-by-case basis, with consideration for emergency disclosure requests and requests related to terrorism and child safety concerns.
